Our Fees

Gap Fees

Whitehouse Medical Centre operates on a mixed billing practice, which means fees may exceed the Medicare scheduled fee, requiring a gap payment. The specific fee and gap amount depend on several factors, including the nature of the consultation and the patient’s age.

Weekday Fees: Monday to Friday

Bulk billing options are offered to holders of a valid Medicare card.

Weekend Fees: Saturday & Sunday

Concession health care card holders and children under 16 with a pre-booked weekday appointment qualify for bulk billing.

For patients holding a valid Medicare card, a $25 Gap Fee applies, subject to the doctor’s discretion.

Procedure Gap Fees

Cervical screenings, skin checks, excisions, biopsies, shaved biopsies, wound management, iron infusions, and other procedures conducted by the doctor will incur a gap fee, applicable to all patients regardless of pension or concession status.
Patients will be notified about this fee before their procedure takes place.

New Patient Gap Fee

A $25.00 gap fee will apply to all new patients for their first visit. Subsequent standard appointments will be bulk billed.

Skin Check Consultation

Gap fees for skin cancer check consultations are as follows:

  • Short Consultation: $42.15
  • Long Consultation: $67.10

Consultations are conducted by Dr. Zobaida Akhter.

Appointment Cancellation and No-Show

A $25.00 fee will apply to appointments canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled time.
If you fail to attend your appointment, a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged.

Payment can be made over the phone, in person, or via bank transfer.

Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN)

We encourage all patients to consider registering as a family for the Extended Medicare Safety Net, which is designed to help you reach the safety net threshold more quickly. For more information and to register, please visit Medicare Safety Nets.

After you meet the EMSN threshold, you’ll be eligible to receive 80% back on out-of-pocket gap fees for the rest of the calendar year, in addition to your regular Medicare rebate. This reimbursement is in conjunction with the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) benefit, though the amount reimbursed is subject to caps for certain services.

This scheme aims to lessen the financial impact of healthcare services, making medical care more affordable for our patients.

Examples of EMSN Benefits

Example 1: For a service charged at $70.00, the patient’s out-of-pocket expense before EMSN benefits is $29.90 (the fee the provider charges minus the MBS benefit received). The EMSN benefit for this service is $23.95 (80% of the out-of-pocket cost), reducing the total expense to $5.95.

Example 2: For a service charged at $90.00, the patient’s initial out-of-pocket cost is $49.90 (the fee charged by the provider minus the MBS benefit received). After applying the EMSN benefit of $39.95 (80% of the out-of-pocket cost) and adjusting for the benefit cap, the patient receives a cap benefit of $32.95, resulting in a final cost to the patient of $16.95.
